Azerbaijan's conflict is with Karabakh rather than Armenia, says official

PanARMENIAN.Net - Nagorno-Karabakh State Minister Artak Beglaryan has said that Azerbaijan's conflict is not with Armenia, but with the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic.

Beglaryan said on his Telegram channel that the process and results of demarcation and delimitation of borders between Armenia and Azerbaijan cannot affect the current and future status of Artsakh (Nagorno Karabakh).

"The Azerbaijani-Karabakh conflict has not been settled, this is a fact that is accepted by the whole world, regardless of certain differences of interests," Beglaryan said.

"And if Azerbaijan wants to close the page of the conflict, to clarify the status of Artsakh, it can demarcate the border with the Republic of Artsakh, at the same time returning the occupied territories and recognizing the independence of Artsakh."

According to him, the key principle of the settlement of the conflict is the full realization of the right of peoples to self-determination. Another important principle of international law, he added, is the non-use of force or threat of use of force, which he said has also been grossly violated or ignored by Azerbaijan.
