Armenia abstains as UN votes for immediate Russian withdrawal from Ukraine

The UN has overwhelmingly voted to call for Russia to immediately and unconditionally withdraw from Ukraine, marking one year since Moscow’s invasion by calling for a “comprehensive, just and lasting peace”, The Guardian reports.

The resolution on Thursday, February 23 night saw 141 countries in favor with seven against and 32 abstentions, including Armenia.

According to a report from TASS, Azerbaijan did not participate in the voting, while Georgia voted in favor of the resolution.

The war has killed thousands of people, forced millions from their homes and fuelled a global food and energy crisis.
