Azerbaijan has violated every clause on trilateral statement, says Armenia

PanARMENIAN.Net - Armenian Prime Minister Ararat Mirzoyan told his Russian counterpart Sergei Lavrov on Monday, March 20 that there is no clause of the trilateral statement of the leaders of Armenia, Azerbaijan and Russia that Azerbaijan has not violated.

Mirzoyan met with Lavrov in Moscow and said that the situation in the region is becoming more tense amid Azerbaijan’s aggressive rhetoric and military provocations not only against Nagorno Karabakh, but also against the sovereign territory of Armenia.

“The blocking of Lachin Corridor by Azerbaijan in violation of the trilateral statement, the deliberate disruptions in electricity supply confirm that Baku's goal is to carry out ethnic cleansing in Nagorno Karabakh,” Mirzoyan said, according to 1Lurer.

“Unfortunately, in practice, there is no clause on the trilateral statement that Azerbaijan has not violated: continuous violations of the ceasefire, occupation of Armenia’s territory, illegal blockade of the Lachin Corridor, detention of Armenian prisoners of war, obstruction to the opening of regional communications, obstruction to the return of Armenian residents to territories under Azerbaijan's control.”

Mirzoyan noted that Azerbaijan is torpedoing efforts to establish stability and security in the region with continuous provocations.

“In this context, I would like to emphasize the active steps from allies and partners to ensure that Azerbaijan fulfills its commitments and ceases its tactics of the use of force and the threat of force,” he added.

Since December 12, the sole road connecting Nagorno Karabakh to Armenia - the Lachin Corridor - has been blocked by self-described Azerbaijani environmentalists. Karabakh residents have reported food and fuel shortages, while hospital patients don't have access to essential medicines, with only a handful allowed transfer to facilities in Armenia proper.
