Armenian, Azerbaijani Foreign Minister to meet in Almaty

Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan and his Azerbaijani counterpart Jeyhun Bayramov will meet in Almaty, Kazakhstan on Friday, May 10.

This meeting between the FMs of Armenia and Azerbaijan was arranged at the suggestion of the Kazakh side which won’t act as a mediator.

Armenia announced earlier that it has agreed to negotiations on a peace treaty with Azerbaijan in Kazakhstan. Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev later publicly spok about the meeting between Mirzoyan and Bayramov in the Kazakh capital, Astana.

The Russian foreign ministry has welcomed the initiative to hold the meeting in Almaty.

Ararat Mirzoyan and Jeyhun Bayramov last met in February in Berlin. However, they did not report any tangible progress.
