Independence declaration may be removed from Constitution

PanARMENIAN.Net - Armenia’s Minister of Justice, Srbuhi Galyan, told reporters in Parliament that the draft of the new Constitution is currently under development.

"The text is still in the drafting stage, and we will soon discuss it with the members of the council," she said, as reported by Aysor.am.

Asked whether the Independence Declaration might be excluded from the new Constitution, Galyan did not give a definitive answer. “We are considering various options, but the text is still being developed. The concept is clear, but within that concept, there are discussions around various norms. Once the text becomes more defined, we will share it with you,” she stated.

The minister also said that representatives of opposition parties are not participating in these discussions.

In a joint press conference with German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev stated that Azerbaijan’s demands to Armenia are known—namely, the dissolution of the OSCE Minsk Group and a change to Armenia’s Constitution, which allegedly contains “territorial claims against Azerbaijan.”
