Kopyrkin: 'Trump Route' part of high-level Armenia–Russia talks![]() October 24, 2025 - 17:36 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Russia’s Ambassador to Armenia, Sergey Kopyrkin, has confirmed that the proposed strategic transit corridor through southern Armenia—informally dubbed the “Trump Route” is being discussed as part of high-level dialogue between Yerevan and Moscow, according to Sputnik Armenia. “This issue is naturally being addressed within the framework of our high-level dialogue. In any case, it cannot be ignored. I would remind you that Armenian officials have said the matter is being discussed exclusively with the United States. But given the importance of the topic, it is, of course, being raised in our conversations as well,” Kopyrkin stated. He reiterated Moscow’s longstanding position, voiced at various political levels, that Russia supports any step that leads toward genuine peace, regional stabilization, and prosperity. “As for the so-called ‘Trump Route’ itself, we are awaiting more specific details about its implementation and operational mechanisms,” he added. On August 8, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev signed a joint seven-point declaration in Washington. The agreement includes the establishment of a strategic transit corridor through Armenia’s southern Syunik Province, offering Azerbaijan commercial access to Nakhichevan. Dubbed the “Trump Route” (TRIPP), the corridor is to be leased to the United States for 99 years, with an option for renewal. As part of the same initiative, Armenian and Azerbaijani foreign ministers Ararat Mirzoyan and Jeyhun Bayramov preliminarily signed an agreement, in the presence of U.S. officials, outlining a framework for peace and interstate relations. Grigoryan added that the situation around the world and particularly in the region is very difficult. The Armenian Defense Ministry has denied Azerbaijan's accusations of violating the ceasefire. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan took to social media to thank his Lithuanian counterpart for the contribution. President of the Armenian parliament Alen Simonyan met with the Speaker of the Azerbaijani Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova. Partner news |
