Foreign films in Armenia to feature Armenian subtitles

PanARMENIAN.Net - According to the Armenian National Film Center, foreign-language films screened in all Armenian cinemas must now include clear Armenian subtitles, following the enforcement of provisions from the country’s newly adopted Law on Cinematography.

The rule also applies to films distributed through television, online platforms, and physical media such as DVDs.

This initiative is being implemented through cooperation between the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports of Armenia and the National Film Center, in coordination with international distributors.

Under the law, distribution of foreign films is regulated via a licensing system, which requires Armenian subtitles as a mandatory condition. A future phase will introduce a dubbing program for foreign-language films into Armenian.
