Lawyer disputes claims about Archbishop Arshak video

Lawyer Arsen Babayan stated on Facebook that Civil Contract MP Vahagn Aleksanyan made “inaccurate and, in some cases, blatantly false statements” during a December 8 interview regarding developments surrounding Archbishop Arshak Khachatryan.

“The most blatant lie is the claim that expert analysis confirmed the well-known video allegedly showing Archbishop Arshak was not created using artificial intelligence or any special software,” Babayan wrote.

“As Archbishop Arshak Khachatryan’s legal representative, I officially declare that no expert opinion has been issued so far that could disprove the video’s falsification. The only so-called ‘expert analysis’ is a half-page document stating: ‘It can be concluded that the same person is depicted in the photos.’ This means the analysis only compared a frame from the video to one of the Archbishop’s photos.”

He further stressed that even when assigning the examination, the investigator did not ask the expert to determine whether the video was manipulated.

Babayan called on Aleksanyan and his Civil Contract colleagues to refrain from spreading “obvious lies and false information” about Archbishop Arshak Khachatryan.

Earlier, Babayan emphasized that even if such a forensic report existed, it could not be lawfully disclosed to any third party, including some bishops. He called on the Investigative Committee to issue a clear and comprehensive explanation.
