Armenian districts in Aleppo suffer damage from clashes

Explosions resulting from clashes between Syrian government forces and Kurdish fighters in Aleppo have caused material damage to the city’s Armenian-populated districts of Sheikh Taha and Villaner, according to the Armenian magazine Gantsasar.

There are no reported casualties or injuries, and the damage is exclusively material.

The report notes that a cautious calm currently prevails in Aleppo, though sporadic gunfire is still occasionally heard.

The Syrian Army has announced a curfew in the neighborhoods of Sheikh Maqsoud, Ashrafieh, and Bani Zeid, effective from 1:30 p.m. on January 8 until further notice.

Clashes erupted in Aleppo on January 6 between the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) and the Syrian Army, resulting in civilian casualties and significant damage.
