WHO adoptс Аrmenia’s hemophilia resolution

PanARMENIAN.Net - A resolution initiated by Armenia titled “Global actions to ensure health equity for people with hemophilia and other bleeding disorders” has been unanimously adopted at the Executive Board meeting of the World Health Organization (WHO).

The resolution was presented by Armen Melkonyan, Head of the International Relations Department at Armenia’s Ministry of Health.

The text was the result of joint efforts between Armenia’s Health Ministry and the World Federation of Hemophilia. Following extensive consultations with WHO member states and bilateral negotiations with several countries, Armenia secured full consensus for the resolution’s adoption.

The resolution is now set to be formally approved by all 194 WHO member states at the 79th World Health Assembly in May 2026, after which implementation will begin based on a 2026–2028 roadmap.

The document aims to:

  • Establish a coordinated international framework to improve treatment and care access for those with hemophilia and other clotting disorders
  • Highlight the importance of Armenia’s health diplomacy and policy leadership
  • Enhance Armenia’s role within WHO and strengthen its international partnerships
  • Elevate Armenia’s global profile and reputation in public health advocacy
