Кarekin II meets Holy See envoy in Etchmiadzin

PanARMENIAN.Net - On March 5, Catholicos of All Armenians Karekin II received the Apostolic Nuncio of the Holy See to Armenia, Archbishop Ante Jozić, at the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin. The sides discussed the complex situation in the region as well as the current state of church-state relations in Armenia.

During the meeting, the interlocutors also addressed the brotherly relations between the Armenian Apostolic Church and the Roman Catholic Church, as well as the prospects for further strengthening interchurch cooperation, the press service of the Mother See reported.

At the end of the meeting, the Catholicos of All Armenians conveyed his fraternal greetings and best wishes to Pope Leo XIV, the head of the Roman Catholic Church.

Earlier, on February 14, it became known that Armenia’s Prosecutor’s Office had launched criminal proceedings against Catholicos Karekin II, accusing him of failing to comply with a court ruling related to the case of the former head of the Masis Diocese and imposing a ban on his leaving Armenia.
