Mirzoyan reaffirms Armenia support for Lebanon sovereignty

PanARMENIAN.Net - Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan reaffirmed Armenia’s support for Lebanon’s sovereignty and territorial integrity during a phone call with Lebanese Foreign Minister Youssef Raji.

During the phone conversation between Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan and Lebanon’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and Emigrants Youssef Raji, the Armenian side reaffirmed Armenia’s support for Lebanon’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.

The interlocutors discussed the situation that has developed in the Middle East.

They also stressed the principled position on the necessity of excluding the targeting of civilian objects.

The sides also addressed the humanitarian situation that has emerged and discussed possible steps.

Minister Mirzoyan thanked Lebanon for the assistance provided in organizing a flight that transported citizens of the Republic of Armenia from Lebanon.

Israel has struck the southern suburbs of Beirut. As a result of the war in the Middle East, more than 687 people have been killed in Lebanon since March 2. United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has arrived in Beirut.

Lebanon became involved in the Middle East war last week when the Iran-backed armed group Hezbollah attacked Israel in response to U.S.-Israeli strikes that killed Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
