Mirzoyan says hosting 2027 Francophonie Games is honor

PanARMENIAN.Net - In a message marking International Francophonie Day, Armenia’s Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan noted that it is a great honor for Armenia to host the Francophonie Games in 2027.

He stated that on March 20, the Francophonie Month officially begins both across the Francophone space and beyond, bringing together French speakers and those who uphold the core values of Francophonie around the world.

“Not remaining aside from this beautiful tradition, through the efforts of Armenia’s state institutions, communities, embassies of Francophone countries, Francophone NGOs, universities, schools, theaters, libraries, and cultural centers, the number and diversity of events organized across the country grow each year. I am pleased to note that Armenian youth are the driving force and core of these initiatives.

It is symbolic that this year International Francophonie Day is marked under the theme ‘A generation for peace: youth contributions to a more peaceful world’—a highly relevant and central topic for the Francophone family facing challenges, including our country, Armenia. In this way, the importance of young people’s potential in establishing and strengthening peace will be highlighted.

Culture and sport play a key role in establishing and strengthening peace through dialogue, solidarity, and respect for diversity. It is a great honor for Armenia to host the Francophonie Games in 2027. Our country is preparing with great energy and enthusiasm to organize the 10th anniversary edition of the Games at the highest level, in line with the expectations of the large Francophone family.

I am confident that the Francophonie Month will once again receive a wide response among Armenian society this year, further strengthening the position of the French language and Francophone values in Armenia,” the message said.

Mirzoyan wished the Francophonie Month success and expressed gratitude to all institutions and individuals whose efforts bring this meaningful initiative to life.

The 2027 Francophonie cultural and sports Games will be held in Armenia, hosting around 4,000 participants from more than 50 delegations.

The Francophonie Games, held every four years since 1989, are artistic and sporting events organized primarily for French-speaking communities.
