Security Council head says peace rests on trust![]() April 23, 2026 - 18:44 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Armenia’s Security Council Secretary Armen Grigoryan said the peace established between Armenia and Azerbaijan is built on mutual trust, speaking at the Delphi Economic Forum during a panel on regional security and ways to secure peace. The discussion was held under the title “Strategic fault lines: managing conflicts and building resilience in Europe’s eastern neighborhood,” with the participation of Greek Prime Minister’s National Security Adviser Thanos Dokos and Moldovan President’s National Security Adviser Stanislav Secrieru. In his remarks, Grigoryan addressed regional developments, stressing the peace established between Armenia and Azerbaijan and the steps being taken to institutionalize it. The Security Council secretary also spoke about the importance of regional unblocking, presenting the progress in implementing the agreements reached and the economic opportunities emerging as a result. On August 8, at a trilateral meeting held at the White House between Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, U.S. President Donald Trump, and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, a joint declaration was signed on the results of the meeting in Washington. Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan and Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov, in the presence of the leaders of Armenia, Azerbaijan, and the U.S., initialed the agreement “On peace and the establishment of interstate relations between the Republic of Armenia and the Republic of Azerbaijan.” Grigoryan added that the situation around the world and particularly in the region is very difficult. The Armenian Defense Ministry has denied Azerbaijan's accusations of violating the ceasefire. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan took to social media to thank his Lithuanian counterpart for the contribution.
