Deputy PM, Iranian envoy discuss economic ties![]() June 3, 2026 - 16:43 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Armenian Deputy Prime Minister Mher Grigoryan and Iranian Ambassador Mehdi Sobhani's successor, Khalil Shirgholami, discussed economic relations between the two neighboring countries and prospects for their further development, according to the Armenian government’s press service. The two officials reviewed ongoing cooperation and stressed the importance of expanding collaboration in the energy, logistics and trade sectors. They also exchanged views on broader issues included in the agenda of Armenia-Iran bilateral relations. The meeting focused on opportunities to deepen economic engagement and strengthen practical cooperation between the two countries. Yerevan has dismissed Turkey’s demand to shut down the Armenian nuclear power plant as “inappropriate”. Armenia will loan 2.9 billion drams to Nagorno Karabakh (Artsakh), according to a draft government decision. The Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of Azerbaijan has “strongly condemned” Armenia’s decision.
