Prosecutors seek to lift Ghazinyan immunity![]() June 7, 2026 - 12:29 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Armenia’s Prosecutor General’s Office has submitted motions to the Central Electoral Commission seeking consent to initiate criminal prosecution against Strong Armenia party parliamentary candidate Davit Ghazinyan and to obtain approval for his deprivation of liberty. The information was provided by the Prosecutor General’s Office, according to Factor.am . Earlier, the Anti-Corruption Committee had applied to the Prosecutor’s Office requesting that a corresponding motion be submitted to the Central Electoral Commission in order to lift Ghazinyan’s immunity. According to a statement issued by the Anti-Corruption Committee, “as a result of investigative measures, factual data were obtained indicating that individuals appointed as responsible persons at the Strong Armenia party’s Arabkir district office in Yerevan, as well as parliamentary candidate D.G., acting in prior agreement with party supporters and a group of cooperating individuals, promised and also provided electoral bribes to voters.” Regular elections to Armenia’s National Assembly have begun. All 2,005 polling stations across the country opened at 8:00 a.m. The voter register includes 2,485,851 eligible voters. Polling stations will remain open until 8:00 p.m. A total of 18 political forces are participating in the parliamentary elections: two party alliances and 16 individual parties. The electoral threshold is 4% for parties and 8% for alliances. Grigoryan added that the situation around the world and particularly in the region is very difficult. The Armenian Defense Ministry has denied Azerbaijan's accusations of violating the ceasefire. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan took to social media to thank his Lithuanian counterpart for the contribution.
