Marukyan comments on post-election scenarios![]() June 7, 2026 - 18:18 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - If the integrity of the elections is called into question and the results are found to have been falsified, it would be declared that a non-legitimate government has been formed, Edmon Marukyan, the prime ministerial candidate of the Bright Armenia Party, said while discussing possible post-election developments after casting his vote. “If the objectivity of the elections is questioned and we determine that the results have been falsified, then, naturally, after the developments of the last eight years in Armenia, it will be declared that a non-legitimate government has been formed. I am optimistic and believe it will not come to that. We call on citizens to go to the polling stations,” he said, according to Panorama.am . Marukyan noted that voter turnout appears to be relatively high at this stage of the election. “Participation is high everywhere. I do not remember seeing lines like these. Political forces have succeeded in mobilizing people and bringing them to polling stations. My expectation is that political thought, political substance and parliamentarianism will return to Armenia’s parliament tonight,” he said. Regular National Assembly elections are underway in Armenia. The country’s 2,005 polling stations opened at 8:00 a.m. The voter registry includes 2,485,851 registered voters. Polling stations will remain open until 8:00 p.m. A total of 18 political forces are participating in the parliamentary elections: two electoral alliances and 16 political parties. The electoral threshold is 4% for parties and 8% for alliances. Grigoryan added that the situation around the world and particularly in the region is very difficult. The Armenian Defense Ministry has denied Azerbaijan's accusations of violating the ceasefire. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan took to social media to thank his Lithuanian counterpart for the contribution. President of the Armenian parliament Alen Simonyan met with the Speaker of the Azerbaijani Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova. Partner news |
