European leaders back deeper Armenia-EU ties

President of the European Council António Costa has congratulated Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan on the victory of the Civil Contract party in the 2026 parliamentary elections.

“The Armenian people have voted for a future built on peace, stability, and stronger cooperation with neighbors and the wider world.

Congratulations to Nikol Pashinyan on the election results. You can be proud of your role in strengthening Armenia’s resilience, stability, and prosperity.

Together, the European Union and Armenia are building stronger people-to-people ties and creating new opportunities in energy, trade, and digitalization. Our strong partnership is an investment in a more peaceful and prosperous future for the entire region,” the message stated.

Estonian Prime Minister Kristen Michal also congratulated Pashinyan on the Civil Contract party’s electoral success.

“Congratulations, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, on your election victory. Armenia continues to choose Europe, and Estonia is proud to support your European aspirations. I look forward to working together on reforms, innovation, and a safer Europe, while building an even stronger partnership between our countries,” he said.

According to preliminary results, the vote was distributed as follows: Civil Contract — 49.825%, Strong Armenia — 23.281%, Armenia Alliance — 9.934%, and Prosperous Armenia — 3.996%. Under these updated figures, the Prosperous Armenia Party does not surpass the 4% threshold required for parliamentary representation.
