Unity Wings rejects election results

The Unity Wings party has announced that it does not recognize the officially published results of the June 7 National Assembly elections and is initiating a recount. The statement was released by the party.

According to the statement, the electoral process was marked from the outset by what it described as an “unprecedented abuse of administrative resources by the authorities.”

“These elections stole the voice of Armenia’s citizens and their right to determine the future of their state. We are not prepared to accept what happened. We are not prepared to remain silent. We are not prepared to abandon our responsibility. Our struggle continues through every available legal, political, and public platform,” the statement said.

The party thanked all citizens who placed their trust in it.

“A systematic scheme was in operation. Senior representatives responsible for the ruling authorities’ campaign, including community leaders, subjected citizens to widespread pressure and intimidation. People were discouraged from attending our meetings and threatened that members of their families would lose their jobs. There were numerous cases in which, according to citizens, they were required by representatives of the authorities to photograph their ballots and later prove that they had voted for the ruling party.

Citizens were widely pressured to attend government rallies under threats of dismissal from work, tax penalties, and other consequences. We even published audio recordings documenting these practices, including cases in which kindergarten directors were pressured, yet we received no response from law enforcement agencies.

Throughout the campaign, at the instigation of the authorities, public discourse was dominated by insults and hate speech, preventing citizens from properly understanding and evaluating substantive policy programs.

These elections were also notable for what we consider open interference by foreign states from Baku, Ankara, Brussels, Washington, and Moscow,” the statement said.

Unity Wings stated that it is convinced votes cast in favor of the party were falsified.

“We categorically reject the announced election results and consider them illegitimate, as they do not reflect the true will of Armenia’s citizens,” the statement added.

According to preliminary results of Armenia’s June 7 National Assembly elections, the vote distribution was as follows: Civil Contract – 49.825%, Strong Armenia – 23.281%, Armenia Alliance – 9.934%, Prosperous Armenia – 3.996%. Under the updated figures, Prosperous Armenia failed to clear the 4% threshold required for political parties. Unity Wings received 33,618 votes, or 2.30%.
