Iran tensions raise regional concerns

PanARMENIAN.Net - Armenia, Azerbaijan, and Turkmenistan could face a large-scale migration crisis in the near future, according to Yevgeny Sisoev, head of the CIS Anti-Terrorism Center.

Speaking at a meeting of the heads of anti-terrorism structures of CIS member states in Moscow, Sisoev said the main source of concern stems from ongoing developments surrounding Iran, Radio Liberty reported.

“The disruption of international supply routes for energy resources and fertilizers, strikes against critical infrastructure, and the risks of further escalation are creating conditions for a major disaster. Such a disaster could lead to large-scale migration processes and humanitarian crises,” Sisoev stated.

He warned that these factors could have significant consequences for countries neighboring Iran and for the wider region.

Following the ceasefire between Iran and the U.S., which has been in effect since April 8, President Donald Trump has repeatedly stated that the sides are close to reaching an agreement and that negotiations are progressing positively. However, no tangible results have been achieved so far.
