Former MP urges patience on opposition strategy![]() June 9, 2026 - 18:04 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Former Member of Parliament Arthur Ghazinyan has said it is premature to discuss whether opposition forces that won seats in the National Assembly should accept or reject their parliamentary mandates. Writing on Facebook, Ghazinyan argued that the political situation is changing rapidly. “At present, it is very difficult to say which option is the right one. It depends on a large number of factors and on the situation on the ground. The situation changes every hour. Today many people may think that rejecting the mandates is the correct decision, while tomorrow or the day after a situation may emerge in which the ruling Civil Contract party loses its stable majority in parliament two months after the mandates are accepted, forcing the appointed prime minister to resign under the law. Today’s situation cannot be compared with that of 2021. The balance of forces entering parliament is fundamentally different, as are the legitimacy of the force that has declared itself victorious in the elections, which were, in our view, entirely falsified, and the regional and geopolitical environment. Unlike many of our honest, patriotic, and emotional compatriots, political leaders do not have the right to make decisions under the influence of emotions. What is needed is cold and rational calculation, the development of possible scenarios, and an adequate assessment of risks and opportunities. In their decisions, they bear enormous responsibility both before our homeland and before each of you. Therefore, emotions should be restrained, patience should be exercised, trust should be placed in the forces that entered parliament with your votes, and people should wait for instructions from their leaders,” the post said. Grigoryan added that the situation around the world and particularly in the region is very difficult. The Armenian Defense Ministry has denied Azerbaijan's accusations of violating the ceasefire. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan took to social media to thank his Lithuanian counterpart for the contribution. President of the Armenian parliament Alen Simonyan met with the Speaker of the Azerbaijani Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova. Partner news |
