
It would be highly desirable for Arthur Osipyan’s preventive measure to be changed, Justice Minister Srbuhi Galyan said while commenting on the condition of the public activist, who has been on a hunger strike since May 21.
According to the minister, Osipyan’s health condition is considered stable, Armenpress reports.
“I receive operational updates about his health every day. Just yesterday, one of our employees visited him. He was offered the opportunity to submit a crime report concerning circumstances that he believes are criminal. We are doing everything possible to ensure that all of his rights, including the right to conduct a hunger strike, are properly safeguarded,” she said.
Osipyan’s lawyer, David Hovhannisyan, has stated that his client has lost a significant amount of weight, is in poor health and is refusing medical examinations.
According to the preliminary investigation being conducted by the Yerevan Investigative Department of Armenia’s Investigative Committee, factual data have allegedly been obtained indicating that on March 22, 2026, Arthur Osipyan used his Facebook account and information technologies to publish posts that, according to investigators, contained public calls for violence against the Prime Minister of Armenia and were motivated by political views.

Osipyan was detained on May 18, 2026, following an argument with Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan. The incident occurred during the election campaign when Osipyan approached the prime minister and criticized him.
Pashinyan responded with harsh language, saying: “... Get lost, you lackey. ‘I’m Arthur Osipyan,’ you should have died in place of our boys. ‘I’m Arthur Osipyan,’ you looting animals. Why are you alive if you're talking about another five thousand victims, you scoundrel?”
