Dilijan talks signal progress, Pashinyan says

The meeting in Dilijan between Armenian Security Council Secretary Armen Grigoryan and Azerbaijani presidential foreign policy adviser Hikmet Hajiyev indicates that progress is being made in the peace process, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has said.

“This means that we are moving forward in the peace process and managing the risks that could arise,” the prime minister stated, according to Armenpress.

According to Pashinyan, a range of issues were discussed during the meeting, including matters related to persons held in detention and the management of the border situation.

“It was I who instructed Armen Grigoryan to discuss with his Azerbaijani counterpart whether there was a need for a meeting or not. We are engaged in managing the situation,” Pashinyan said.

He added that negotiations between countries are conducted in order to discuss positions, plans, strategies and issues of concern.
