Constitutional Court combines election result appeals

PanARMENIAN.Net - The Constitutional Court has consolidated the petitions submitted regarding the election results into a single proceeding, with all challenges to be examined during the same court hearing. The session is scheduled for June 26.

At its procedural session on June 21, the Constitutional Court accepted for review cases concerning a dispute over the Central Electoral Commission’s Decision No. 259-A of June 14, 2026, “On Summarizing the Results of the June 7, 2026 Regular Elections to the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia.” The petitions were filed by the Strong Armenia Alliance of Parties, Wings of Unity Party, Democracy Law Discipline Party, Prosperous Armenia Party, For the Republic Democracy Defenders Alliance Party, Armenia Alliance of Parties, and the New Force Reformist Party.

“Considering that the aforementioned cases concern the same issue, and pursuant to Article 41 of the Constitutional Law on the Constitutional Court, the cases have been merged and will be examined during the same court session, which will take place on June 26, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. Constitutional Court Judge Edgar Shatiryan has been appointed rapporteur in the case, and the hearing of the consolidated case will be conducted under an oral procedure,” the statement said.

The Constitutional Court is required to examine the case and adopt a decision no later than 15 days after the date the application is registered.

Political forces that secured seats in parliament, as well as those that failed to pass the electoral threshold, have appealed to the Constitutional Court. Their main demand is to invalidate the Central Electoral Commission’s decision summarizing the election results, while some petitions also call for a second round of voting.
