Ten parties asked to join CC election proceedings

PanARMENIAN.Net - A motion has been submitted to Armenia’s Constitutional Court to involve 10 political parties as third parties in proceedings related to the June 7 National Assembly elections. The announcement was made on Facebook by Liparit Drmeyan, a lawyer and parliamentary candidate from the Wings of Unity party.

“We have submitted a motion to the Constitutional Court to involve 10 political parties as third parties in the case examining the demand to invalidate the June 7 National Assembly elections. This case concerns all parties that participated in the parliamentary elections, and each of them is obliged to stand up for the vote cast by the citizens who supported them,” Drmeyan wrote.

On June 14, the final results of the June 7 parliamentary elections were published. The Civil Contract party received 726,819 votes, or 49.7456 percent. Strong Armenia secured 340,006 votes, or 23.2710 percent, while the Hayastan Alliance received 144,983 votes, or 9.9231 percent. The Prosperous Armenia party failed to pass the 4 percent electoral threshold and will not enter parliament, having won 58,287 votes, or 3.9893 percent.

Civil Contract will hold 64 seats in parliament, including three seats allocated to representatives of national minorities. Strong Armenia will have 29 seats, including one seat for an Assyrian representative, while the Hayastan Alliance will hold 12 seats.
