CC election ruling due by July 4

PanARMENIAN.Net - The deadline for the Constitutional Court to publish its decision on challenges to the results of Armenia's June 7 parliamentary elections is July 4.

Constitutional Court President Arman Dilanyan said the court has limited time to issue its ruling and therefore proposed holding a hearing on the upcoming non-working day, June 27. According to him, the progress of that session will determine whether an additional hearing will also be necessary on Sunday, 1lurer.am reported.

On June 26, the Constitutional Court began hearing the case challenging the results of the parliamentary elections.

Applications challenging the election results were filed with the Constitutional Court by the Strong Armenia alliance, the Wings of Unity Party, the Democracy, Law, Discipline Party, the Prosperous Armenia Party, the For the Republic Party, the Hayastan alliance, and the New Force Reformist Party.

On June 14, the final results of the June 7 parliamentary elections were published. Civil Contract received 726,819 votes, or 49.7456%; Strong Armenia received 340,006 votes, or 23.2710%; and the Hayastan alliance received 144,983 votes, or 9.9231%. The Prosperous Armenia Party failed to pass the 4% electoral threshold, receiving 58,287 votes, or 3.9893%.

Civil Contract will hold 64 seats in parliament, including three reserved for national minority representatives. Strong Armenia will have 29 seats, including one reserved for an Assyrian representative, while the Hayastan alliance will hold 12 seats.
