Republic Party discloses election alliance proposal![]() June 30, 2026 - 14:12 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Republic Party Chairman Aram Sargsyan said he had proposed to Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan that the Civil Contract party and political forces aligned with the Western camp run in the election on a single joint list. According to Factor.am , Sargsyan argued that while parties associated with the Russian political camp were participating separately in a "molecular" format, the Western-oriented camp should compete as a unified bloc because opinion polls showed parties advocating Western and European values enjoyed combined support of 65%. "Civil Contract's response was obvious to me. They insist they support a balancing policy and cannot enter into an alliance exclusively with political forces that promote Western values," Sargsyan said. On June 14, the final results of the June 7 parliamentary elections were published. Civil Contract received 726,819 votes, or 49.7456%, Strong Armenia won 340,006 votes, or 23.2710%, while the Hayastan Alliance secured 144,983 votes, or 9.9231%. The Prosperous Armenia Party failed to pass the 4% electoral threshold, receiving 58,287 votes, or 3.9893%, and will not enter parliament. Civil Contract will hold 64 seats, including three allocated to representatives of national minorities. The Strong Armenia Party will receive 29 seats, including one reserved for an Assyrian representative, while the Hayastan Alliance will hold 12 seats. Grigoryan added that the situation around the world and particularly in the region is very difficult. The Armenian Defense Ministry has denied Azerbaijan's accusations of violating the ceasefire. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan took to social media to thank his Lithuanian counterpart for the contribution. President of the Armenian parliament Alen Simonyan met with the Speaker of the Azerbaijani Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova. Partner news |
