Maria Karapetyan elected OSCE PA vice president![]() July 8, 2026 - 18:23 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Armenia's National Assembly member Maria Karapetyan of the Civil Contract faction has been elected vice president of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly, receiving the highest number of votes among the candidates with 119 votes from parliamentarians representing 57 countries. Karapetyan announced the result on her Facebook page. She served as a member of Armenia's National Assembly from 2019 to 2021, elected through the My Step Alliance's nationwide electoral list. During that term, she was a member of the Standing Committee on Protection of Human Rights and Public Affairs and belonged to the My Step parliamentary faction. Following the June 20, 2021 parliamentary elections, Karapetyan was re-elected to the National Assembly through the nationwide electoral list of the Civil Contract party. Grigoryan added that the situation around the world and particularly in the region is very difficult. The Armenian Defense Ministry has denied Azerbaijan's accusations of violating the ceasefire. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan took to social media to thank his Lithuanian counterpart for the contribution.
