The leadership of Armenia’s Environmental Protection and Mining Inspection Body has reviewed its work during the first half of 2026, assessed its effectiveness and discussed progress in preparations for COP17.

Head of the inspection body Hovhannes Martirosyan held a working meeting with the senior management to examine the results of activities carried out during the reporting period.

Heads of sectoral departments presented the outcomes of enforcement measures, inspections and monitoring conducted during the first six months of the year. The meeting also covered suspensions of activities, administrative proceedings that had been initiated, preventive measures and their key indicators.

Martirosyan analyzed the main performance indicators of the inspectorate’s divisions in detail and assessed the effectiveness of their work. He outlined priorities for the second half of 2026 and issued a number of instructions concerning digitalization, subsoil use, biodiversity, atmospheric air and water protection, with the aim of improving the organization and efficiency of operations.

Preparations for COP17 were discussed separately. Instructions were issued to ensure that all functions and activities assigned to the inspection body are carried out properly, in a coordinated manner and to a high standard.

The 17th meeting of the Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity, COP17, will be held at the Meridian Expo Center in Yerevan from October 18 to 30, 2026.
