House arrest imposed on Ara Nakhshkaryan![]() July 30, 2026 - 13:10 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - A court has ordered house arrest as the preventive measure for Ara Nakhshkaryan, a member of the Armenian Revolutionary Federation (ARF), in a criminal case concerning alleged vote-buying. The information was announced by his lawyer, Hripsime Gasparyan. The prosecution had requested that Nakhshkaryan be placed in pretrial detention for two months, according to Sputnik Armenia. Ara Nakhshkaryan, a member of the ARF, was detained on July 29 in connection with alleged incidents of giving and receiving election bribes. Earlier, on June 6, Armenia's Anti-Corruption Committee said it had uncovered a new alleged vote-buying scheme involving one of the parliamentary candidates from the Hayastan Alliance. The committee also released new audio recordings, one of which included a participant being addressed by the surname Nakhshkaryan. Grigoryan added that the situation around the world and particularly in the region is very difficult. The Armenian Defense Ministry has denied Azerbaijan's accusations of violating the ceasefire. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan took to social media to thank his Lithuanian counterpart for the contribution.
