Alexander Arzumanyan: Armenia undergoes civilization crisisJuly 9, 2009 - 20:38 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - «If on February 19 last year, Armenia underwent a political crisis, after the events of last year March, the country entered a phase of 'civilization crisis'," ex-Minister for Foreign Affairs of Armenia Alexander Arzumanyan told a news conference today. According to him, the most important issue Armenia face today is to choose the further way of development: return back to the family of civilized nations, or lead the way to "Asian tyranny" . Mr. Arzumanyan believes that the attempts of authorities to close the topic of events of March 1 event by granting an amnesty cannot be success, since the real perpetrators of the death of 10 citizens have not face trial so far. He said, that the act of amnesty was aimed at justification against PACE. And baseless political arrests, with the amnesty followed were just by political and opportunistic decision of the authorities. According to him, during last year and a half, the priority in the foreign policy of current leadership of the country has had only one target: to prevent PACE from adopting sanctions against Armenia. "This is a shameful situation for our country, to spend so much time in order to address only one issue ," Arzoumanyan said.
