CE DELIGHTED WITH ARMENIAN PRESIDENT DECISION TO PARDON PEOPLE EARLIER SENTENCED TO DEATH PENALTY

PanARMENIAN.Net - Secretary general of the Council of Europe (CE) Walter Schwimmer has warmly welcomed the decision of Armenian President Robert Kocharian to commute all 42 death sentences to life imprisonment, the CE site informs. "I am delighted that president Kocharian has taken such a positive and commendable step forward. This decision is a clear sign that Armenia is determined to honor its commitments to the Council of Europe, and wants to become fully integrated within the European family of nations," the CE secretary general stated.
