Vladimir Zakharov: new military base of Turkey to be stationed in NakhichevanAugust 23, 2010 - 19:58 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Director of the Institute of Political and Social Studies of the Black Sea and Caspian region, Vladimir Zakharov, said that the Turkish President paid a state visit to Azerbaijan prior to the visit of Russian President Dmitry Medvedev to Armenia. And a new agreement was signed there, envisaging military components, Zakharov said during Yerevan-Moscow TV space bridge. According to him, though the agreement's text is unknown, but, most likely, a new military base of Turkey will be stationed in Nakhichevan. For his part, Head of the Department of Political Studies of Caucasus Institute Sergey Minasyan noted that there are many serious limitations for the military station's deployment: Turkey's membership in NATO, stance of leading regional players and, finally, Turkish leadership's willingness to get involved in processes of regional security. “I do not think that Turkey is ready to take upon itself another headache related to Armenia,” concluded Minasyan.
