  ROMAN POPE INTENDS TO VISIT BAKUJuly 24, 2001 - 21:22 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - It is expected the visit of the head of the Roman Catholic church Iohann Paul II to Baku in May, 2002. The meetings of the Roman Pope with president of Azerbaijan Heydar Aliev, the government head Arthur Rasizade and sheik ul-islam Allakhshukyur Pashazade are planned. Allakhshukyur Pashazade in his interview to the Baku newspaper 'Echo' has stated he knew about the forthcoming visit of the Roman Pope from press. He has pointed out he is not envolved in the visit organization of the Roman Pope, who will visit Baku not as the head of the Catholic church but as the head of Vatican. The Armenian Defense Ministry has denied Azerbaijan's accusations of violating the ceasefire.
