MP: ANC-authorities possible dialogue to strengthen ArmeniaMay 16, 2011 - 13:47 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Member of the ruling Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) parliamentary group Gagik Melikyan hailed the possible political dialogue between the authorities and the Armenian National Congress (ANC). According to Melikyan, the dialogue will contribute to strengthening the state. He added that the international community also welcomed the readiness to dialogue. A tense situation emerged in the country after the 2008 presidential election, while the opposition took illegal and anti-constitutional actions, not recognizing the election results, said Melikyan. He pointed to the actions taken by Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan over the past years, specifically, discussion of important foreign and domestic political matters with the opposition forces, what allowed easing the tension in the country. As for other political forces’ reaction to the dialogue between the authorities and ANC, Melikyan said only those forces, which are afraid of possible problems during the next parliamentary election, will treat the dialogue negatively.
