Expert: AKP failed to reach its goal

A new era of political haggle opened in Turkey, an expert said.

“Although the ruling Justice and Development (AK) Party won the parliamentary election, it has failed to reach its ultimate goal – to gain 367 seats in the parliament, what would allow it to change the constitution and strengthen the institute of president,” Ruben Melkonyan, deputy dean of Oriental Studies department at Yerevan State University, told a news conference in Yerevan.

“Now, AKP will have to hold talks with the other parties,” he said.
