Turkish company denies business deal with Stepanakert airport

PanARMENIAN.Net - Demirci Makina Turkish company denies having sold equipment to Stepanakert airport currently under construction. “We didn’t sell anything to Armenia directly and we couldn’t do that because at first we need to register the exported products at the ministry responsible for the foreign trade,” company officials said.

“Turkey has no diplomatic relations with Armenia and therefore it is impossible for us to receive permission from the state ministry,” said the company official.

The company believes that the equipment was sold to Armenia via the third country. “The country, which purchased the equipment from us, might sell it to Armenia later. Similar situation was observed with Iran. For example, machinery sold to Dubai was sent to Iran, but our company can not work with Iran directly because of sanctions imposed by US.”

According to Turkish Foreign Trade Ministry direct trade with Armenia is not the matter of discussion for the absence of diplomatic relations with the county. As Turkish Foreign Ministry noted, reports of the kind aim to damage relations between the two brotherly countries, according to APA.

As NKR Civil Aviation Department Dmitry Atbashyan stated earlier, the equipment for Stepanakert airport construction was purchased from Turkey’s Demirci Makina company. The Department bought metal fence making device for the airport, Demirci Makina’s offer being most affordable among many offers received.
