Tigran Sargsyan: We aim to develop local self-administration in ArmeniaJune 29, 2011 - 20:43 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - On June 29, Prime Minister of Armenia Tigran Sargsyan met with the delegation of the Congress of local and regional authorities of the Council of Europe which is in Yerevan for participation at the conference titled Migration: challenges for local and regional authorities. During the meeting Sargsyan said that Armenia keeps a watchful eye at sittings and discussions in the Congress. “Our main goal is to develop local self-administration in Armenia. From this view, for strengthening democracy, issues of self-administration may play an important role in formation of civilized society,” he said. Head of Armenian delegation of local and regional authorities to CoE, Emin Yeritsyan, presented the works of the sitting. As the Governmental press service cites Yeritsyan, sittings, held beyond Strasbourg, help get familiar with CoE country members and develop cooperation. Usually sittings of the CoE Congress are held in Strasbourg, however at the invitation of the Armenian government, Yerevan City Hall and Union of Armenian Communities this time it was held in Armenia involving 70 dellegates of CoE country members.
