Gandzasar will be returned to its original form, Armenian architects hope

PanARMENIAN.Net - Coating of Gandzasar monastery fence would not be stopped. According to July 19 photos, posted on the web, the coating of the western and northern parts of the fence, as well as the main entrance is almost completed.

As the deputy chairman of the Armenian association of architects-restorers, Stepan Nalbandyan told a PanARMENIAN.Net reporter, unprofessional work was done. “What they fail to realize is that coating will not strengthen the fence walls, but rather put additional weight on them,” he said.

According to Mr. Nalbandyan, despite refusal of the tourism department at Artsakh government to permit construction works, the benefactors are “ignoring everybody, doing whatever they choose.”

“According to media reports, further steps are to be determined upon the return of the benefactor Levon Hayrapeyan to Armenia. However, it’s ridiculous to mention further actions when the coating is almost completed,” the expert said, still hoping for a day when Gandzasar will be returned to its original form.
