Henrikh Mkhitaryan: Nobody had expected Turkish fans to ruin this game.

PanARMENIAN.Net - Shakhter’s Armenian midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan gave his take on Istanbul-hosted Shakhter vs Fenerbahce game on the official website of the club.

“I think they did not rule out the possibility that certain incidents would happen but I guess nobody had expected the fans to ruin this game,” said Mkhitaryan adding that they only played 70 minutes.

“We hope that the game vs Lyon will be different. We will be playing in Donetsk and I think our fans are unlikely to behave the same way”, the midfielder said.

July 21 Shakhter vs Fenerbahce match was stopped due to disorders of Turkish fans.

“Everyone knew about Fenerbahce and the style of Turkish teams as a whole. We came here to play football, to show our level and win. Thus, we hoped to adapt to the new schedule, 2 games per week. It was very important for us. What’s done is done. Both sides had equal chances of winning,” Mkhitaryan said.
