On Saturday, July 30 the eyes of the footballing world will be on Rio de Janeiro’s Marina da Gloria as 166 nations await their destiny in the Preliminary Draw for the 2014 FIFA World Cup Brazil.
53 nations will be drawn in the UEFA qualifiers for the tournament. A total of nine groups will be drawn, eight consisting of six teams and one containing five.
One nation will be drawn from each pot to make up the groups, with each team then playing each other twice. The winners of each group will progress to play in Brazil, with the eight best runners-up going into a play-off round.
Qualification for World Cup 2014 gets underway on September 7, 2012, with the group stages due to conclude on October 15, 2013.
70th in the FIFA rankings, Armenia was confirmed in pot five along with Finland, Estonia, Cyprus, Latvia, Moldova, FYR Macedonia, Azerbaijan, Faroe Islands.
