Media City Ballet show to feature special appearance by Armenian dancers

PanARMENIAN.Net - Media City Ballet (MCB), Natasha Middleton, Artistic Director & Choreographer, the Southland’s leading dance company specializing in the presentation of performances in the tradition and style of the Ballets Russes, will celebrate their current 10th Anniversary Season by making their debut at the John Anson Ford Amphitheatre, Hollywood, CA, on Friday, August 12, 2011, with the World Premiere of AXIS MUNDI: A Global Multi-Cultural Celebration of Ballet Dance.

MCB Principal Dancers Tatiana A’Vermond, Annia Hidalgo, Enton Hoxha, Vardan Khachatryan, Edgar Nikolyan, Gabrielle Palmatier and guest artists, Antoinette Peloso (Metropolitan Opera) and Jesus Solorio (So You Think You Can Dance) will lead a cast of over 40 performers in a program including Italian swordplay, a French Baroque ball, folk dances from Hungary, Spain, Armenia, Poland, Russia and China, and show-stopping repertoire like Khachaturian’s Saber Dance, Rimsky-Korsakov’s Schéhérazade and Borodin’s Polovtsian Dances. Richard Gilkerson (of Burbank) will appear as the Narrator.

The show will also feature a special appearance by Armenian character dancers, Karapet Jereiyan, Arthur Akopyan, Shant Avadisian, Narbeh Khachikyan, Vardan Dagstayan and Henry Ousepyan from the Glendale based, Zvartnots Dance Ensemble, Massis Post reported.
