Expert: Iran attempting to get its way out of political blockadeSeptember 2, 2011 - 15:48 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Recently the Iranian government has changed its policy towards Syria, an Iranian studies expert said. “Iranian leadership’s statements in support of the Syrian government become gradually substituted by calls to consider public claims,” Mher Baghdasaryan told a press conference in Yerevan According to him, change of policy might be conditioned by the fact that Iran doesn’t want aggravate relations with the neighboring countries, particularly with Turkey. “Presently, Iran is attempting to get out of the political blockade and is not interested in worsening relations with any country,” Baghdasaryan said. He also noted that Iran is seeking to take advantage of the situation in Syria. “In my opinion, Iran is not likely to yield positions in Syria, with Damascus being Tehran’s only strategic partner in the region. Besides, both countries are engaged in numerous joint programs,” the expert concluded.
