Armenia finishes 2nd at European Judo Junior Championships

PanARMENIAN.Net - The European Junior Championships 2011 finished in Lommel, Belgium, on September 18.

Armenia’s national team took the 5th place among 40 countries, while the men’s squad was 2nd in the team event.

Brothers Garik and Gor Harutyunyan won gold medals in 55kg and 60kg weight categories, showing the most successful performance since 2009, when Artem Baghdasaryan grabbed the gold medal and David Mkrtchyan and Tigran Varosyan won bronze.

In Tashkent-hosted World Cup, female judokas Gayane Harutyunyan and Zhanna Stankevich took the 7th and 3rd places respectively to qualify for London Olympics, reported the Armenian Judo Federation.
