Armenian arrested in Glendale for brandishing knife at a womanOctober 20, 2011 - 16:31 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - A 63-year-old Glendale man was arrested after he allegedly brandished a knife at a woman in a Starbucks parking lot after she confronted him about an unpaid loan, police said. According to Glendale News-Press, Vahik Avaness was taken into custody on suspicion of brandishing a knife and making threats, according to Glendale police reports. He was released later that day. The woman allegedly saw Avaness sitting in his Toyota Camry about 1 p.m. and decided to block him in with her Nissan Altima in the Starbucks parking lot on the 1700 block of West Glenoaks Boulevard. She demanded his address and asked for repayment, but he allegedly refused to tell her. Instead, Avaness allegedly got of the car, stood in front of her and lifted his shirt to expose a metal knife in his waistband, according to police. As he brandished the knife, he allegedly told her, “You’re never going to get your money back. Get lost.” The loan amount was not disclosed in police records. Avaness immediately fled on foot, but the woman tried to follow him. Officers later found and detained Avaness at a shopping plaza on Glenoaks Boulevard, where he reportedly told police the woman had been following him around to retrieve the money he borrowed from her.
