Ohanyan deems public reaction to army problems natural

PanARMENIAN.Net - Public discontent with army incidents is quite natural, Armenian Defense Minister stated.

“Army and society are interrelated. Public indifference to the current developments in the army would cause concern,” Seyran Ohanyan said.

He noted that recent reforms in the defense system have made army more open to the society while the democratic control mechanisms operating within the Armenian armed forces are gradually improving.

“In the 21 century, any kind of information may appear in the Internet, becoming available for ill-wishing forces. “A few disgruntled citizens requiring information on the current developments in the army are preferable to endangering the country’s security,” Minister Ohanyan said.
