Armenian army expansion envisaged in 2012 budget

PanARMENIAN.Net - Armenia’s 2012 budget envisages over AMD 150 bln defense sector funding, increasing the sum by 5,6% against 2011, according to Defense Minister.

“The sums to be provided comprises 3,5% of Armenia’s GDP. The funding is to be allocated to structural reforms to expand Armenian army, upgrade and purchase of weaponry,” Seyran Ohanyan told journalists before 2012 budget discussions by the Standing Parliamentary Committee on Defense, National Security and Internal Affairs.

However, the Minister said, no increase in militants’ salary has been planned.
