During the conference the Turkish side attempted to link the normalization process to Karabakh conflict settlement. “Crisis Group experts stated that at the moment Karabakh conflict settlement process is frozen and it should not be linked to Armenian-Turkish relations,” Minasyan said. The expert also noted that on the second day of the conference Turkish experts discussed issues that had no connection to existing Armenian-Turkish relations. They even stated that Armenia should recognize treaty of Kars and the Turkish borders, diverging from its Genocide recognition policy. According to Minasyan, several foreign experts, similarly to their Armenian colleagues, deemed the conference a waste of time. The conference held from November 29-30 was organized by two Turkish research centers and Strategic Studies Center of the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs. ![]() ![]() Grigoryan added that the situation around the world and particularly in the region is very difficult.
