Hungarian President says Karabakh settlement possibleNovember 9, 2011 - 12:25 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Hungary's position on Nagorno Karabakh conflict remains unchanged, Hungarian President stated during his visit to Azerbaijan. "As was stressed in the course of recent consultations, it's important to seek progress in Karabakh settlement in full compliance with international law. A sustainable settlement must be achieved through peaceful means, within the existing negotiation format," Pal Schmitt stressed. "In this respect, the OSCE Minsk Group has the lead. The settlement must be based on Madrid Principles, which is absolutely necessary in maintaining and reviving the negotiation process to find a mutually acceptable solution," he said. President Schmitt said Hungary is fully aware that finding a solution to Nagorno Karabakh conflict is a complex and difficult task. The settlement process requires much patience, readiness to compromise and a political will to do so. "However, we are convinced that peace talks can come to fruition. Based on our own historical experience we believe that confidence building measures and mutual concessions are also indispensable," Trend News quoted him as saying.
