Azeri spiritual leader’s visit aimed to distract international community

PanARMENIAN.Net - The visit of Azeri spiritual leader Sheikh-ul-Islam Haji Allahshukur Pashazadeh to Yerevan is a way to reassure the international community on the background of recent aggression at contact line, according to the Assembly of Azerbaijani Armenians NGO chairman.

At news conference in Yerevan, Grigori Ayvazyan noted Pashazadeh as a political figure rather than religious one. “Armenians proved to be tolerant in welcoming him, despite his being one of the masterminds behind 1988 massacre of Armenians in Sumgait,” Ayvazyan said.

On November 29-30, Yerevan hosted the meeting of CIS countries' spiritual leaders, with Sheikh-ul-Islam Haji Allahshukur Pashazadeh among those present.
